Spiral Cut Princess Anne Honey Baked Ham

2004

Embroidery on Linen

36" x 32 "

There was an ulterior motive in the creation of this piece.   Simply put, I was very hungry, and tired of ramen noodles.   As disgusted as I am with the stereotype of the starving artist, for a time I was one.   In concerns to food, it is not as they say in the fashion world, "The more you wear it, the cheaper it is."   On the contrary, once you eat it, it is gone.   I find it disheartening how much time and thought can go into the cooking of a fine meal when it is devoured in minutes.   There is this same disproportion in art.   How much time did you spend viewing my ham?   How much time and effort do you think it took to produce?   This piece was show at the MOMO Gallery in Kansas City and purchanced by Johnson County Community College in 2005.
